PETE "SNAPPER" WINNER, codenamed SOLDIER "I", spent eighteen years with the UK's SPECIAL AIR SERVICE (SAS) and fought at what are among the Regiment's most iconic battles.
"[Pete] was, and is, a Regimental institution." Andy McNab
From a secret war in Oman to the high-profile Iranian Embassy Siege, the streets of Belfast to the icy waters of the Falklands; Pete has experienced the highs ("the adventure, the danger, the humour, the camaraderie") and the lows ("wringing wet, sleeping rough, senses tormented by seeing bodies ripped apart and blown limb from limb") peculiar to the Special Forces' elite that few can even begin to imagine.
To find out more about Pete's awe-inspiring career please visit the Intelligence page which includes an exclusive message from Soldier I himself.
For the first time since leaving the Regiment, Pete feels ready and able to speak freely and truthfully about his time in the SAS. Subsequently Pete is available for bookings as a motivational / after dinner speaker and for interview. Visit the Operations page for more details. Any forthcoming public lectures which Pete presents from time to time will also be listed here.
In Memoriam : Pete is a survivor - in SAS parlance "he beat the clock" - but many of his friends paid the ultimate sacrifice and did not make it home. Please take a moment to pay your respects. We will remember them.
